How do I operate my tappers independent of my mobile device?

How do I operate my tappers independent of my mobile device?

  1. You must select the rate of speed, the intensity and time you want the tappers to run “before” you turn your Bluetooth off or turn your mobile device to airplane mode
  2. Once the time expires, the tappers will no longer work. Push one of the buttons on one of the tappers momentarily and they will start working again.
  3. If the tappers do not start up again, try pushing the button on the other tapper momentarily and they will start working again.
  4. If you hold the button down too long, there is a chance you have turned the tapper off.

To turn the tapper back on – hold the button on the tapper. You will feel the tapper tap once, when this happens, release the button.
The green light will blink once for one second.
The tappers should begin working again – tapping in an alternating, rhythmic pattern.
When you are operating your tappers independent of your mobile device you cannot change the settings. They will use the last used settings you established when Bluetooth was on and the app was open.

How do I determine the length of time I should use the tappers?

How do I determine the length of time I should use the tappers?

The length of time you use your tappers will vary from person to person. Some people will use the tappers anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes when feeling anxious or stressed. Some people will use the tappers for an even longer period of time, re-starting the tappers, as often as needed.

Some people use the tappers to focus on a project that requires sustained attention (doing homework, studying for a test, doing paperwork, etc). Some people will use the tappers the entire time they are working on something, others will use the tappers, as needed.

If you are using the tappers to help you get through a performance (public speaking, an oral exam or practicum, performing, attending a stressful meeting, etc), some people are using the tappers prior to the event to help them feel calmer and more focused. Other people are using their tappers during the event, pushing the button on one of the tappers lightly to have them re-start at the same setting previously selected.

At the bottom of the App, you will find an hourglass that indicates the length of time you can choose to have the tappers tap: 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes at a time.

You can stop the tapping anytime you choose to by pushing the square at the bottom of the App or by lightly pushing one of the buttons on one of the tappers, both tappers will stop tapping.

You can start the tapping again, by pushing the arrow at the bottom of the App or by lightly pushing the button on one of the tappers. The tappers will remember the previous setting you chose and tap at the selected rate of speed and the selected rate of intensity.

How do I determine the rate of speed and the level of intensity when using my tappers?

How do I determine the rate of speed and the level of intensity when using my tappers?

Everyone is different, so the rate of speed and the level of intensity that works for you, might not work for someone else.

Most people find bilateral tapping relaxing and calming. If the rate of speed or the intensity of the tapping proves to be irritating or distracting, try adjusting the rate of speed and/or level of intensity. You do not need a fast rate of speed or a high level of intensity to enjoy the benefits of Bi-Tapp.

It is also noted that people vary regarding where they prefer the bilateral tapping: holding the tappers, wearing the tappers with wristbands, putting the tappers in pockets, or socks, etc.

Using the tappers to help you sleep:

We recommend you turn your tappers to a slow rate of speed and a lighter intensity. You will find that within a short amount of time, your brain prefers to follow the bilateral tapping over your anxious thoughts and you should begin to relax and fall asleep. If you wake up in the night, lightly press one button on one of the tappers and the tappers will resume tapping at the setting previously chosen.

Using the tappers during the day:

Rate of Speed:

A good starting place is to put the rate of speed in the middle of the turtle and the rabbit setting and then adjust from there. If the rate of speed is too fast or too slow for you, it will be irritating and distracting, rather than calming and soothing.

Some people adjust the rate of speed depending on their stress or anxiety level. For example, some people start the tappers at a faster rate of speed and as they calm down, they adjust the tappers to go slower. Other people keep the rate of speed the same, no matter what they are doing.

Rate of Intensity:

A good starting place is to put the level of intensity in the middle of the setting. If the level of intensity is too strong or too light, it will be irritating and distracting, rather than calming and soothing.

Stop using this product if you have tried different settings and are not feeling calmer.
